National advertisers continue their efforts to delay enforcement of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), despite reports that the Attorney General of California has committed to sticking to the current start date of July 1, 2020. The Attorney General’s office has emphasized the importance of data security. According a report by the International Association of Privacy Professionals, an adviser to the attorney general stated recently that “CCPA has been in effect since January 1, 2020. We’re committed to enforcing the law starting July 1.”  Further, businesses are encouraged to “be particularly mindful of data security in this time of emergency.”

Multichannel News reports that the Association of National Advertisers has renewed its call for a delay, citing a recent executive order by Gov. Gavin Newsom in response to COVID-19 that extends the review period on all state regulations by 60 days.
