The Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) has issued comments on the Non-Traditional and Emerging Transportation Technology (NETT) Council.

Here are some of the key recommendations:

  • Public transit systems should use anonymous credential verification systems to prevent location tracking instead of traditional swipe card or tap card systems which are less privacy protective.
  • The DOT should recommend privacy safeguards banning the sale or transfer of user data from public or private transit systems.
  • We should identify privacy as an issue for possible hyperloop systems and ensuring it is addressed early in development.
